Yesterday, on November 19, 2016, the Chattahoochee Academic Team sent 4 teams to compete in the Brookwood Invitational Scholars Bowl Tournament.
Our A team swept the field of 40 teams total, winning all their games throughout the day. Hooch A beat Westminster in the finals for a score of 650-215. The B team was unfortunately knocked out by Hooch A in the octofinals, winning fifth place. Our C team was composed of all sophomores and D team all freshmen; all our teams gained valuable experience. Great job to all teams! The Chattahoochee Science Bowl team won the WISC (Walton Invitational Science Competition), held on November 12, 2016. After winning a close semifinals game against Lakeside on the tiebreaker, the Chattahoochee team won the championship against the top-seeded team, Oak Ridge, from Tennessee, with a score of 114-20. They won a "whisk" for their efforts. The science bowl team is composed of seniors Ashwin Ramaswami, Arvind Ramaswami, Kalen Patton, and Abhinav Kumar. They were coached by Kalyani Sankaranarayanan. This is the second year of the science bowl team. Last year, they won the state championship and won 17th at the national championship in Washington, DC.
