The Hooch science bowl team placed in 5th place in the National Science Bowl at Washington, D.C. this weekend. This was just the second year of the science bowl team, and their second year that they won an all-paid trip to compete at nationals. This year, they made playoffs for the first time and beat teams such as Oak Ridge (from TN) and 2016 National Champion Montgomery Blair High School (from MD). They were knocked out of the playoffs by losses to Lexington High School (which went on to be 2017 National Champions) and Mira Loma High School (which finished in 4th place). Great job to the team and we are looking forward to great things in the future!
The team was composed of Ashwin Ramaswami (12th), Arvind Ramaswami (12th), Abhinav Kumar (12th), Kalen Patton (12th), and Maanas Purushothapu (10th).
